Puerto Rico Trips
- Puerto Rico Trips – Available upon the re-opening of Puerto Rico and the restoration of air travel post Covid-19.
- Open trips run Saturday to Wednesday and are 5 days in length.
- Weekday day only trips are available (M-F) for organized groups in a customized format.
- Trip costs: 5 day trip costs $995/person, not including airfare to San Juan, PR.
- Extended trips are available for an additional fee.
- Trips begin and end at the airport in San Juan.
- All major US airlines provide service into San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU)
- No passports, shots, pills or change of US currency required.
- All major cell phone carriers provide service on the island with no roaming charges.
- Volunteers will be hosted in the community of Caimito, a suburb of San Juan, at a recently renovated retreat center located 30 minutes from the airport.
- Volunteer projects will occur at the retreat center which is now acting as a Community Center and at
- local elementary school. A new community library is currently under construction beginning March 1st,
- 2020 and continuing through the outbreak with the help of resident long term volunteers living on campus and doing the work with funds donated from Crossing Thresholds.
- Volunteers will sleep dorm style, separated by gender.
- Professional cooks will be preparing all meals on-site.
- The retreat center has purified city water, bathrooms, showers and electricity.
- Bedding, pillows, sheets, blankets and towels are provided, laundry is available on-site.
- Minimum group size is 6 volunteers, maximum is 24.
- Customized trip itineraries are available.
