Community Update - The Power of Play
We’re thrilled to announce our second playground in Kibera had a grand opening and dedication ceremony! This special milestone wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible volunteers who worked tirelessly during our recent trip to clear the land and bring the playground to life. We are also deeply grateful to Fritz and Lynne Healy for their generous donation to make this dream come true.
The importance of a playground, especially in an urban setting, cannot be overstated. It is far more than a place to play; it is a space where children can feel safe, free, and inspired.
On the surface, playgrounds are filled with laughter and joy. But beneath that, something much deeper is happening. As children climb, run, and explore, they are building confidence, developing social skills, strengthening their bodies, and learning how to navigate the world around them. Play is not just fun; it is essential to healthy growth and development.
Every child, regardless of their background, deserves the opportunity to play, to imagine, and to dream. These moments of play spark creativity, nurture resilience, and open young minds to what’s possible. Protecting a child’s right to play is, in many ways, protecting their right to a full and joyful childhood.
