Consider volunteering for a trip
you’ll never forget …
“Go to the people… learn from them… love them. Start with what they know. Build with what they have. When the work is done, the task accomplished, the people will say, ‘We have done this ourselves.’ ”
Thank you for your interest in joining a Crossing Thresholds service trip to Kenya! We have led trips since 2008 and are committed to offering a safe, inspiring, and rewarding experience. Over 10 days (including travel), you will engage closely with children in the Kibera slum, contribute to meaningful projects, and connect with our partner schools.
* Spots are limited to maintain a meaningful group size!
What to Expect
-
During the week, you’ll be immersed in the heart of Kibera, the largest slum in Africa. You’ll work alongside children, teachers, and local leaders, contributing to meaningful projects that create lasting change. Every day will challenge, inspire, and empower you.
-
Build classrooms, playgrounds, or computer labs, lead arts & sports activities, paint murals, or teach in the classroom. No prior construction or teaching experience is required. Bring your energy, curiosity, and willingness to learn. Everyone has a role to play and a perspective to offer!
-
From local markets and traditional meals to music, dance, and Swahili lessons, you’ll experience Kenya beyond the volunteer site. Each morning begins with mindfulness and a Swahili lesson, and each evening we come together for reflections. Helping you connect with the community, the environment, and yourself.
-
Crossing Thresholds takes care of all logistics: airport pickup, 4-star hotel accommodations with hot water and WiFi, meals, and safe local transportation. You focus on connecting with the children and community, making the most of every moment without worrying about the details.
-
You’ll laugh, grow, and maybe even shed a tear. You’ll witness remarkable perseverance and resilience, and leave knowing that one person’s effort truly matters. By the end of the trip, Kenya will feel like a second home, and the children you’ve met will leave a lasting mark on your heart.
Step out of your comfort zone. Step into purpose.
