The Crossing Thresholds community has always stepped forward when opportunities arise to deepen our impact in Kibera. This summer, several dedicated volunteers are preparing to travel to Kenya to support our partners on the ground at our schools and community programs. Their presence is a modest financial investment with an outsized return for children, teachers, and families in Kibera.

Because you are part of the Crossing Thresholds community, you know that real change comes from long-term relationships, not one‑time transactions. Our volunteers travel to Kibera to listen, to learn, and to work alongside local leaders - strengthening programs you’ve helped build over many years.

This year, a team of volunteers has committed time, energy, and expertise to serve in Kibera. The single biggest barrier is cost. We are inviting the Crossing Thresholds community to close that gap and fully fund their journeys to Kenya.

Partner With Us: Cover a Volunteer’s Journey to Kenya

    • Trip fee to Kenya: The essential cost for room and board, ground transportation, and project contribution.

    • On-the-ground support: Logistical costs that allow volunteers to focus on relationship-building, classroom support, and project work, not worrying about how to make ends meet.

    • Stronger programs for kids: Each volunteer brings skills, attention, and encouragement that help strengthen the learning environment for children and support the adults who care for them every day.

    • Continuity in our partnership with the Kibera community

    • Extra hands and hearts in classrooms and community spaces

    • Fresh ideas, renewed energy, and deeper mutual understanding
